Why have you come to live in Silver Valley? Lauren wanted to create a place of her own where no one could tell her how to live her life, and then it dawned on her how great it would be to invite other like minded people to come live here with her.
Personality:
Lauren is a kind, free spirited, old soul. She has always found herself lost in deep thoughts and fantasies. She reads all the time, as much as she can, on any subject she has an interest in at the time. She loves to spend time with the children, teaching them how to do different things around the farm, especially artistic activities like painting and pottery. It helps to put her mind at ease knowing that she is doing something good with her life. Don’t mistake her dreamy nature for weakness though, because she will prove you wrong in a heartbeat. She is not afraid to be a bitch when she needs to be. She has worked too hard to create this community, and she is not about to let anyone mess it up. She can be a little bit of a control freak sometimes. This place is her baby after all, so to speak. She has always been very fond of animals. When her dog was sick a few years ago and they were going to put him down, she refused to leave his side until his last breath. She is also hopelessly romantic. She has been watching sappy Disney movies since she was a kid and waiting for her happy ending.
Her personal patrons are Epona Celtic Horse Goddess, Evaki Native American Goddess of Night, and Bragi Norse god of poetry and eloquence.
History:
Lauren was born and raised right here in Wolf Point. She grew up in a small country house, just her and her mom. It was not an easy upbringing. Her dad spent most of her life in in prison. She was young enough though when he was arrested that she hardly ever noticed the difference of him being gone. The trouble was that her mom had to be gone a lot too. As a single mother she had to support them somehow. As a result, she spent a lot of time with her grandparents and cousins growing up, which she didn’t mind one bit. It was like having brothers and sisters and more parents than a kid could ask for.
When she got a little older, she and her mom moved away, and it broke her heart to have to leave everyone behind. Nevertheless, through all the trouble, she did make some good friends in Tennessee, but she always missed home. There was never a doubt in her mind that she would return. Unfortunately, she knew all too well, that the same was not true of her mother. There were too many bad memories in Wolf Point for her. When she remarried, Lauren finally found her opportunity to go home. She would miss her mother, but she knew that she would not be alone now.
Lauren was twenty four the day she hopped in her car and headed north. All she had with her was a bag of clothes and her books. She had no idea what she was going to do. She stayed with a cousin for a year, saving up as much money as she could, working as a waitress. It wasn’t much, but she was able to save almost all of her earnings. At the end of the year, she realized how much she had and the potential for what she could do with it. She and her cousin went searching for a plot of land, anything they could get for a good price, and they didn’t stop searching until finally they found it. For the past six months, Lauren has been working herself to the bone to create this place, and there is still more than enough work to go around. As her twenty sixth birthday present to herself, she opened Silver Valley Village.
Role Play Sample:
The sun was beating down hot on that summer day as Lauren wiped the sweat from her brow. “That should do it,” she sighed and patted Fen, her beautiful white husky puppy on the head, to which the dog responded with a playful yip and a shake that send mud flying in all directions. Lauren screamed and laughed, holding her arms up to shield herself. She looked up at the work she had done that afternoon, and smiled. There was nothing more satisfying than being able to see the fruits of her labor.
She lifted her basket and made her way to the garden hose. She squirted Fen and watched the puppy trying to catch the spray in her mouth. “You need a bath little one,” she laughed and turned the nozzle to her harvest of the day. After scrubbing the vegetables clean, she took them inside to fry them up. With a little bit of salt and butter, she had a delicious stir fry to enjoy as she watched the sun go down. She wondered why anyone would choose to live a life cut off from these simple pleasures. One thing was for sure, she would never go back to the stereotypical existence of working her life away only to line someone else’s pockets. She was much happier here on her own.
